The Circle Death of Kidney Disease and Hypertension

Like a chicken and egg, kidney disease and hypertension is a circle of causality. Each other can be a cause or effect.

How much your blood pressure? Besides known to cause heart disease and stroke, hypertension is closely related to kidney disease. Conversely the risk of hypertension can occur in people with kidney disease. There is a kind of vicious circle between the kidney and hypertension.

Humans have two kidneys, located in the center of the waist. The function of the kidney, first set the fluid level in the body. If the amount of fluid in the body a little, the kidneys will hold so that the liquid does not out of the body. Conversely, if the amount of fluid a lot, the kidneys will remove it. This is known as the function of renal excretion.

The second function of kidneys is to filter out the rest of the body’s metabolism, to then be excreted from the body. The third function, the kidneys produce and regulate a number of important hormones in the body. As eritropoitine hormone-forming red blood cells, the hormone renin which regulates blood pressure, and hormone whose role is to activate the vitamin D needed in bone metabolism. The kidneys also regulate a number of chemical processes which include maintaining the balance of salt, water, acid-base, as well as minerals.

Blood pressure regulation by the kidneys
Kidney is an important organ in controlling blood pressure. Blood pressure is controlled in several ways. If blood pressure rises, the kidneys will increase spending on minerals and fluids, thus increasing blood volume and blood pressure returned to normal. If blood pressure falls, the kidneys will reduce the expenditure of minerals and fluids, thus increasing blood volume and blood pressure returned to normal. Through the mechanism of hormonal, kidney increases blood pressure by producing the enzyme renin, which triggers the formation of the hormone angiotensin, which will trigger the release of the hormone aldosterone.

If the kidney is interrupted
In the kidney, there are millions of tiny blood vessels that serves as a filter. If the blood vessels in the kidney is damaged, the function of disposing of waste and extra fluid from the body will be disrupted. As a result, waste and extra fluid in blood vessels increases, causing the contents of the cavity of the blood vessels increases, and blood pressure increased. Kidney damage in the cortex (outer layer), will stimulate the production of the hormone renin, thereby stimulating the occurrence of hypertension.

If hypertension
Blood pressure is the force of blood in the artery wall pressure. High blood pressure (hypertension) is the current state of the body to lose or are unable to control blood pressure, so the pressure is excessive. As a result, blood volume increases and narrows blood vessels, the heart pumps harder to supply oxygen and nutrients to all cells in the body.

Impaired renal hypertension due to renal disease may be acute, chronic, until terminal kidney failure. Terminal renal failure patients have to do dialysis.

Slimming body is not cholesterol-free guarantee

Do not be complacent if we have an ideal weight. That does not mean the body is obese have high levels of bad cholesterol, and conversely slim body free of bad cholesterol. In fact a study conducted on 1101 female volunteers, aged on average 41 years showed that 54% of volunteers expressed in the category of ‘normal weight obese’. That is, they have a body weight within normal limits, not including obesity. However, their cholesterol levels actually reached 30% above normal.

The condition of high cholesterol is making them have the same risk as women who are obese. Their susceptibility to metabolic disorders take up to 4-fold increased, while triglyceride levels increased 2-fold from normal. In addition, the possibility that they entered the stage of pre-diabetes rises to 3-fold. Plus, blood pressure jumped to 20%.

Blood cholesterol in a person primarily influenced by lifestyle, age, presence of certain diseases, and also genetic. While weight loss is not directly related to cholesterol levels. People with excess weight, do tend to have high cholesterol levels. Obesity causes impaired insulin function, which then lead to disturbances of fat metabolism. But, does not mean that thin people may not have high cholesterol. It should be understood that cholesterol is a fat that is in the blood, rather than fat under the skin. So, maybe someone has a slim body but had high cholesterol.

Genetic factors
Not only because of lifestyle, high cholesterol can also be caused by internal factors, namely genetic. Since birth, everyone already has an immune system that produces its own cholesterol, or so-called endogenous cholesterol. In some people, there is a system of his body produces high levels of cholesterol, as a congenital factor. Without eating any foods with high cholesterol, their cholesterol levels are high.

Genetic factors is often not detected. Therefore, to determine the presence or absence of these factors, should be done a blood test in the laboratory. Especially, for those whose parents or relatives have a history of high cholesterol. Read the rest of this entry »

Apples are Good for Menopausal Women

Menopausal women tend to have similar body shapes of apples, a large abdominal, which is identical with high levels of cholesterol and fat. The ill effects of the “apple body” can be combated with an apple. A study in the United States said apple is a “miracle fruit”.

This study, involving 160 postmenopausal women ages 45-65, who were randomly divided into two groups, one group received 75g / day of dried apples for one year, and another group received prunes. Blood samples were taken at month 3, 6, and 12. The results are startling: women who ate the apple, the cholesterol levels of “bad” LDL dropped 23% in 6 months. Lipid hydroperoxide levels and C-reactive protein (CRP) was also down.

Lipid hydroperoxide is a lipid (fat) is oxidized and damaged, which damage cells. CRP is a protein in an area that increases the inflammatory response (inflammation). The higher the CRP, the higher the inflammation. Previous research in animals shows, pectin and polyphenols in apple improve fat metabolism and lowers the production of pro-inflammatory molecules.

In contrast, levels of “good” cholesterol HDL  increased by about 4%. Another advantage, an additional 240 calories of dried apple consumption does not cause weight gain. In fact, weight loss of about 3,30 pound. One reason may have come from pectin, which creates a feeling of fullness and suppress appetite.
